Haha wow, that's funny - I'm glad you like my music selection. Love from Melbourne, Australia xxx
Totally - there were some remixes of Passion Pit, The Teenagers and Angus & Julia Stone I haven’t heard yet. I’m been SO busy with work that I haven’t had any time to go through Hype Machine to find new music and your mix was perfect!
Where are you living right now
I'm from Wollongong and I'm so fasanated in your work..
I'm wanting to further my modellling so if you're around let me know
Oh! Australia! I haven’t been out there yet but I’ve shot a few Aussie’s and they’re great to work with! I love the Aussie attitude on life! A roommate moved to Brisbane and I’ve been meaning to visit her.
Here’s a funny story you might like: last night I was going through your Tumblr. I needed to get work done and thought I closed all my browser windows, started retouching my work and thought “When did I turn on iTunes? This is a really good mix!” Then I realized I hadn’t turned it on… I left your blog open and was listening to the music you put up. I ended up using it the entire night of work!
True story! So thanks for being my personal DJ!!! ha!
I want to make a new art piece for 2011… and I need your help! It will only take 5 minutes of your time and you’ll walk away with a piece of fine art!
Email a clear shot of yourself that I can use to make the art piece. Send a close up of your teeth, your eyes, your fingernails, your arm, your toes, your ear, or whatever. Here are the requests for this:
• Make sure it is you and only you • Send only one photo and make sure it is at least 600px high but no larger than 1500px • Keep it clean
Send it ASAP and reblog this post so others can send theirs in! The more the better! I’ll make the final piece available so everyone can download it for free and it should be big enough that you can hang it on your wall if you wish.
Send them here: tumblr@MichaelDonovanPhotography.com
I have a group of shoots that are waiting to be published before I can share. In the meantime I’m preparing for a trip to Seattle in January for an assignment and a move to Europe in the spring. If you ask questions now, I promise to answer them sometime this week.
As a photographer, you probably have a better view into a variety of modeling agencies than most models. Which NY agencies would you suggest for a brand new girl? p.s. I love your work!
I’d suggest going to Models.com and using their top 10 list to start. Submit your snapshots to every agency. They also have a listing for men; and listing of smaller agencies for women.
The ones that are interested in your look will email you back, and then you’ll want to meet with each of them. Each agency has a different vibe so you have to find the one with the energy that works best with yours. Obviously I am partial to a few more than others, but my needs and the needs of the models can often be different. :)
love the blog! your work is extremely refreshing and inspiring in the sense that i can actually feel your excitment for what you do. i see so many so so photos from prestigious photographers in prestigious magazines, and i never get that feeling. but here i am on your blog and your work is a fresh take while being an instant classic.
fuck, i didnt ask anything... !! how's life? where were you located before NYC?
Thank you! I’m so glad to see that it is inspiring others! I really hope I’m making classic and iconic photos that can represent our generation so it was great reading what you wrote.
As for your question: Life is GREAT! My work is my life and I’m getting tons of new movement. Before I lived in NY, I lived in Chicago for a few years; and I grew up in Cascadia.
Awesome, awesome images! Who are you shooting for? Certain magazines? (I'm a magazine junkie, so i'll be sure to look out for you if you are)
Here is the long answer: I just started shooting in NY 1.5 years ago and spent a lot of time turning down editorials because I wanted my work to be at a certain level before I did anything. I JUST started accepting offers and there will be an army of magazines I’ll be in moving forward. They’re starting to trickle in now and I just scheduled 3 editorials in the last 24 hours that I will shoot in January. I’ll keep everyone posted as they come in.
In the meantime, everyone can pick up a copy of Tokion’s FACTORY magazine. I shot the cover with a 10 page editorial.
